A CHAPTER OF THE 1818 SOCIETY
THE ASSOCIATION OF FORMER STAFF OF THE WORLD BANK GROUP
St The Florida Chapter comprises some 200 former staff of the World Bank Group now living in the Sunshine State of Florida.a.
The group meets from time to time to renew old friendships and make new ones. Former World Bank Group staff living outside Florida are also welcome at these reunions.
The Chapter is a totally informal body. It has no rules, no regulations, and no officials other than a
reunion convener who at the present is Karin Nordlander. The Chapter depends entirely on people volunteering ideas for reunions and their
willingness to help organize them. You can contact Karin for questions or information at her email at karin@nordlander.com or phone her at (561) 447-9499.
Nine reunions have so far been held:
- Sarasota (1996)
- Key West (1998)
- Homosassa Springs (1999)
- Fort Lauderdale (2000)
- St. Augustine (2002)
- Miami (2003)
- St. Petersburg (2005)
- Miami Beach (2007)
- Amelia Island (2008)
- Palm Beach (proposed for February 2009)
- Key West (proposed for February 2010)
- Sarasota (proposed for March 2011)
About 25-50 people, including spouses and guests, attended each of these reunions.
Apart from arranging annual reunions, the Chapter has occasionally endeavored to assist
retirees with queries concerning the World Bank Group medical insurance plan and other such
matters. The Chapter may undertake other activities in the future if so
requested.
